The House on the Rock, revisited

If you'd like to feel like you've gone to liminal art Hell — in the best way possible — you should visit The House on the Rock.

A view of the Organ Room, a chaotic assortment of metal machinery, glass lamps, and metal catwalks covered in carpet, all housed in a very large multi-story hangar.

It's been well over 10 years since I last visited The House on the Rock just outside of Spring Green, Wisconsin and I've been thinking about it ever since. It's such a strange, chaotic, ego-centric collection of art, knickknacks, and large-scale projects that no arrangement of words could ever accurately describe. I've long been tempted to find a way to convey at least the feeling of being there in a set of photographs, and with my Zf and a 14-24mm ƒ/2.8 lens I feel like I've done a good enough job of exactly that.
